1.有些单词大小写时意思不同，某些单词大写时为特指。

如：West 西方 （指欧美国家），west西边

East 东方 （指亚洲国家），east东边

China 中国，china 瓷器

Russia 俄罗斯，russia俄罗斯皮革

2.专有名词要大写。

如：the Earth 地球 the Moon 月亮

3.两个以上的河流、省份、县（区）的名字在一起时，river, province, country要小写。

如：the Yangtze and Yellow rivers 长江和黄河

Zhenxiong and Yanjing counties 镇雄县和盐津县

Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces 江浙

4.复合词，即用连字符的连字要大写时，连字符前后两个字都大写。

如：Three-Dimensional Model三维模型

5.英文诗歌每一行的第一个字母都要大写,如：

Spring goeth all in white,Crowned with milk-white may.

春之女神着素装,山楂花冠乳白光

6.官衔与人名一起时官名大写。

如：Foreign Minister Liu Yun 刘云外长

7.数字与名词组合时，首字母需要大写的情况：

如：Table 1 表1，Figure 2 图2

8.引用他人观点和研究成果时，引句一般要使用斜体字以示区别，作者署名首字母需要大写，所用的句子首字母需要大写。

如：According to Smith et al. (2010), The effects of pollution on fisheries are significant.
